Hurricane Rita

Heidi and I are worried. Our family didn't make it out of Houston in time. Now there is no gas and it is perilous to travel. I don't think anybody understood what it would do to the roads coming up from the coast. That is just an enormous amount of vehicles all trying to go basically north. Even though there was plenty of warning, what has happened was more than most of us were able to comprehend. I hope we make it through this disaster without the loss of life and property we experienced just weeks ago.
Our hearts were touched by what those poor people went through, experiencing horrific hardships and with their family's and loved ones being wrenched apart and especially not knowing if they are dead or alive. And still, we were not even on the road to recovery from that when so many of those people were uprooted once again.
We should all pray for healing from these natural disasters. And we should also pray that these hardships and losses will bring us closer together and try to rebuild instead of playing the blame game. That will pull us apart when we need to cling closer together because we are more vulnerable to our enemies when we are splintered.
